몽골국의 울란곰, 달란자드가드, 울란바타르, 운두르한, 처이발상 등 다섯 지역의 몽골족 샘플 493개
에 대한 Y-DNA 검사 결과는 하플로그룹 C2-M217이 약 59%, O-M175가 약 14%인 것으로 나타났다
(Yamamoto et al. 2013).
O-M175가 중국 한족의 약 80%를 차지한다는 것을 감안하면 몽골국에서 O-M175의 낮은 빈도는
거의 극과 극 수준이라고 할 수 있다. 몽골국의 주류 집단인 할흐족 기준으로
현재까지 발표된 논문들 대부분이 C2-M217의 빈도가 50%를 넘는다는 결과를 보여 주고 있다.
