It is powerful in many circumstances. South Korea has one of the biggest militaries in the world, eating out Japan and other big nations. South Korea's companies such as Samsung, Hyundai, and LG are world superpowers in their industries and the nation is very important and world affairs (the secretary general of the UN is Korean.) Saying it shouldn't be a world superpower is disregarding a country that has lots of control of the world in this current time.

Definite so definite Why debate with a topic like this? They are one of the most developed countries in the world. I dont know the exact situation is going on there but at the view of a foreigner, they look pretty awesome and nice. But if korea become a super power, east asia would be messed up. China japan korea they are already famous with colliding each other.

South Korea is superpower already...(Kind of) South Korea is a very successful nation in military, economy, security, democracy, and culture. South Korea is capable of being a far stronger power if some of the bans limited South Korea is lifted. Ex: nuclear weapon ban, bio/chemical weapon ban (although South Korea already has a ton of bio/chemical weapons), long ranged missile ban...Etc. You name it. I think everyone wants North Korea to be reunited with South so they don't cause trouble. In order for that to happen, South needs to be a superpower. The government already announced that it costs $500 BILLION dollars to reunite and bring up North Korea to standard economy. South has $1.7 TRILLION, but $500 BILLION is still a lot. Anyway, some parts of South Korea already exceeds expectations and became #1 in the WORLD. So why bother keeping this good old fine nation to secondary, satellite nation of USA and NATO.

Korea is getting there already just need a small push Regardless of negatives, what country doesn't, in many of the important aspects Korea is pretty close to becoming a world power already. It's military, economy, infrastructure, judicial system, and etc are already top level. Social issues are rampant and needs further adjustment, but I am sure it will improve. For those who do not agree, I respect your view.

The people are passionate hopeful and strong. Koreans are all passionate. It has traveled through their vanes and bloods since ancient times. They are like hianas, if they see their food they will not give up. It wont be exaturating if we say that the people brough korea to a rising nation of the world. In the 90s korea was bankrupt. Korea had to borrow money from IFC or everything they have achieved will have turned into ashes. The people of korea sold their jewellery to ths government to pay the debt to IFC. It was astonishing, korea was the fastest country to pay their debt so quickly. It was all thanks to the sacrifice of the people.

South Korea can be a leading example of economic growth At the end of the Korean war, the nation was split into two, the North and the South. The North received aid from the Soviet Union which allowed it's people to at least start with something after the end of the war. South Korea however, although they received aid as well from its Allies, it was only minimal. South Korea was considered one of the POOREST country on Earth. However in just a little more than half a century, the nation that was considered to be "third-world" is now an economic powerhouse. Samsung, LG, Hyundai, Kia, KAL, is all Korean founded companies in which now they are an international economic powerhouses in their respective productions. In short, South Korea had one of the worst economies on the planet few decades ago and in a surreal amount of time of 60 years the nation is now one of the best economic powers. I cannot emphasize and repeat enough on what an achievement that is. Also to mention, many business sources states that South Korea will achieve a spot in the top 4 economies by 2050. From an almost non existent economy to a nation that will be in the top 4 of the world in less than a century proves that something is being done right. Yes I do believe South Korea most definitely should be allowed to become a world power.

Yes, to inspire all Altaic,-Turkish-Mongolian-indigenous Siberians. South Korea is a shining Gem in North East Asia. South Korean success in music, finance, its various industries, its culinary traditions, and the ability to revive what seemed to be its dying language after WWII is an inspiration to the indigenous people of Heilongjiang, Inner Mongolia of China, Mongolia, Korea, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Yakutsk (Saha Republic), and other indigenous Siberians of Russia. The Korean wave can inspire many of these above mentioned groups in looking onto to Korea as an Altaic brother in preserving their language and customs.

Korea is great For someone that in 50 years succeeded to become one of the most powerful countries in the world, without interfering in other countries in order to take advantage of their poverty and use their resources, means they do something right. They are hard working, know the value of a good education, are respectful, and friendly.

They deserve to become World Power because they have worked hard to become the inspiration nation. Since the 1997 when South Korea faced bankruptcy, they stood up together to bring out the country from the worst economy. Now South Korea has best one of the leading Companies like Samsung, LG, KIA and Hyundai. According to the Bloomberg survey Korea is the most innovator country in the world. Their innovations which force us to think "What will be the Next Technology will they introduce". South Korea proved their potential to be in the list of World Power after entering into G20. Though they have some social problems due to increase in competition in jobs but they are determine to work together to be the successful nation and they proved it. Look the history when the Korean War broke out, they had nothing to survive but they did survive with their determination and self-respect. Many of my people argue me that South Korea is the puppet of USA and I argue with them by saying that we cant neglect the relations with any country especially USA. At least they dont do proxy wars as we are doing (referring to Pakistan and other Islamic States). If they are puppet Of USA then they would not become as successful country as they are now today.

I don't think South Korea should be allowed to become a world power. I don't think South Korea should be allowed to become a world power. I think in order for the country to become a world power they need to do more for their people. Many of their people live in poverty. They do not have a good grasp on social issues, and this needs to change before they can be considered a world power. Otherwise, they will not be able to understand issues that may come about in richer countries.

hell that South Korea being a world power will be good for anybody! South Korea is a country full of arrogant and insane peoples who have unrealistic expectations of the future. They think that they are better than everyone else and are two-faced. On the outside, they act all friendly and accepting of other countries, but in reality they are full of hate and resentment. South Korea should not become a world power until they show they can stand on their own two feet. South Korea, although the more timid of the two Korea's, does not have the ability or resources to engage with the super powers of the world. They still require assistance and backing from the US and other large nations to stay afloat. They are also not on the same military level as North Korea. I believe they barely have the resources to defend themselves without looking elsewhere for help.

I don't think South Korea should be allowed to become a world power, they are causing enough disturbance already. South Korea is not a matured enough country to such a position. The ongoing clash between North and South Korea is enough proof of that. If S. Korea becomes a world power like USA or China it would be very disturbing for world peace.

I disagree that South Korea should be allowed to become a World Power. No country should be allowed to become a world power or can become a world power. Every country has its own uniqueness and its own strengths and weaknesses; it is very difficult to classify one single nation as a super power. Many countries in Asia are doing very well. Similarly, many countries in Europe are also doing very well; however, today, most countries have become a multi-national citizen countries, and there is a lot of good will amongst these nations. It is necessary to maintain that. By declaring any country as super power, we will only bring about disputes and problems.
